When I delete or move an e-mail, the next thing I see is the next e-mail in my inbox. I want to return to the inbox, not to another e-mail. How can I change this setting? Hopefully what I am saying makes sense, and hopefully someone has a solution. It really irritates the crap out of me.

To make sure we are on the same page, when you delete an email, you want to still see the Inbox and the list of all the emails within and not the actual message. To do that, stay in your Inbox and do not be in the email itself. Just swipe right on the email to bring up a menu to Flag or Trash the email. This will ensure that you are still in the Inbox and not be in the next email.

No, that's not it at all. And how can I read the e-mail while still in the inbox?
Let's say I am reading an e-mail, and I delete that e-mail. Once I delete the e-mail, I want the mail app to go back to the inbox where I can see all the e-mails in my inbox. Instead, it goes directly to the next e-mail down in my inbox. I don't want to go to another e-mail. I want to go to the Inbox. It is one of the most irritating things in the entire world. Drives me nuts.
I too have this problem someone can answer this. I want to return to Inbox after deleting a mail.
Currently the mail app is moving to next email instead of that I want the app to move to inbox after deleting a email.

I too had this problem. Microsoft Outlook solves this perfectly. I have to admit that it is really pity that Apple do not support this feature.
This is one of the many limitations of an iPhone. There is no such option to choose to return to inbox after you've read and deleted an email. One stupid option is to read the email, come out of it manually and then swipe and delete it from the inbox view. The other smarter option is to use the Microsoft Outlook email app for iOS. That is truly brilliant - all-in-one email app. Calendar, settings, files and emails all in one place.
Hi I have the same issue but this is only if I use the search and not from the inbox directly
and only from a Exchange mailbox not from Hotmail/Outlook
Microsoft Outlook app also comes with Touch ID for devices that have the option so an added layer of security.
